Extended English 9 Current Unit of Study
Unit 4 - The Journey of the Hero
April - mid-May
The Odyssey! We will be studying Homer's Epic Poem through both the Language of Literature text and the Nextext
version of the tale. We will also be utilizing outside resources on Gods and Goddesses. The unit will include
BCR writing, artistic projects, journal writing, dramatic (acting) activities and a formal assessment of an exam
of an ECR, fill-in questions, matching, selected responses and BCRs.
Post-Odyssey
After the hero study, we will begin to prepare for the Extended English 9 final exam, Benchmark III, through a variety
of reading & writing activities. Stay tuned for more news on that.
*As always, grammar instruction will continue on an almost daily basis.*
Extended English 9 Important Dates
- MP 5 is in full swing and will end on Friday, April 4-21-06.
- MP 5 will be interrupted by Spring Break, Thursday 4-13-06 to Monday 4-17-06.
- SRI B testing will occur during the week of 4-24-06 to 4-28-06.
